Name: Stephen Wright
Occupation: Student
Location: Staffordshire University, UK
Discipline: Software Engineering
Notable Employment: Technical Intern, IBM UK Hursley Laboratories
Bio: Originally from the lovely (but dangerous!) part of the East Midlands
known as Nottingham, I moved to Stafford when I enrolled on the Computer Games Programming
BEng at Staffordshire University, which I believe is the best computer games development
degree in the UK. I love technology, from the smallest transistor to the biggest
supercomputer, which is lucky really, as I spent the last year working at IBM Hursley
Software Development Labs as a technical intern, developing build tools for IBM's
z/OS releases of their Websphere MQ product family.
My main passion is in Gaming though. I can't say that i'm an "old-school" gamer,
as the first console I owned was a Playstation 1 in the late 90's, but I am passionate
about game development and changes in gaming medium and technology. I love MMOs
and RPGs, racing games and old-school Crash Bandicoot style platformers, to name but a few.
My primary expertise are in modern application development. This allows me to utilise languages such as
C++,
C# and
Java, as well as having experience using supplementary APIs such as
DirectX,
OpenGL and the
XNA platform.
I have developed for both
Console (XBOX 360) and
PC, and am proficient in the use of IDEs such as
Visual Studio,
Netbeans,
Eclipse
and
Expression Studio. Some of the projects I have undertaken utilising these skills can be seen on this website.
